Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Cook the Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook for 8 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned.
Drain any excess fat.
Make the Sauce
Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning.
Simmer for 4–5 minutes, letting the flavors meld and the sauce thicken slightly.
Add the Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously.
Cook for another 3–5 minutes until the sauce is creamy and slightly thickened.
Combine with Pasta
Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet with the sauce until well coated.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve and Garnish
Serve hot, garnished with freshly grated parmesan cheese, if desired.
