Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce tomato, and pickles for toppings
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise for Baconnaise Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease from cooked bacon
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the bacon until crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
  3. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, bacon grease, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to create the baconnaise sauce. Set aside.
  4. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form loose balls. Season each ball with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Place the beef balls on the hot grill or skillet. Using a spatula, smash each ball down to form a thin patty. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Add a slice of cheese if desired during the last minute of cooking.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading baconnaise sauce on the bottom bun, adding the patty, and topping with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and crispy bacon. Finish with the top bun.
  8. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
