Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or regular milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with cooking spray or oil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the almond milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the sesame seeds.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and water until smooth to create the glaze.
  10. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and sprinkle with additional sesame seeds. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
