Ingredients
  

  • 11 ounces baking caramels Kraft brand recommended
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 5-6 small apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • Popsicle sticks as needed
  • Toppings of your choice nuts, sprinkles, crushed pretzels, etc.

Method
 

Prepare the Apples:
  1. Rinse the apples thoroughly to remove wax or residue.
  2. Dry the apples completely with a paper towel and remove the stems.
  3. Insert a popsicle stick into the top of each apple and refrigerate until ready to use.
Set Up Your Workspace:
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray it lightly with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Melt the Caramel:
  1. Unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Add the water and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir well.
  3. If the caramels are not fully melted, continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth.
Coat the Apples:
  1. Hold an apple by the stick and dip it into the melted caramel, ensuring it is fully coated.
  2. Rotate the apple to allow excess caramel to drip off.
Add Toppings:
  1. While the caramel is still warm, roll the apple in your desired topping or sprinkle the topping over the caramel.
  2. Place the coated apple on the prepared baking sheet.
Let Them Set:
  1. Refrigerate the apples for at least 15 minutes to allow the caramel to harden.
Serve:
  1. Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy this delightful treat.

Notes

  • Ensure the apples are completely dry before dipping to help the caramel adhere.
