For the Sauce

For the Toppings
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded Substitute with provolone if desired.
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced Use roasted garlic for milder taste.
  • ½ small Red Onion, thinly sliced Shallots could be used for a delicate flavor.
  • ¼ cup Pepperoncini, chopped Banana peppers can be a milder substitute.
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese Pecorino Romano can be used for a sharper flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Oregano Optional; use dried oregano in a pinch.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Sheet
  • parchment paper

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a 12-inch round shape, ensuring it's even. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the edges of the dough with olive oil.
  2. Spread ¾ cup of tomato sauce evenly across the surface of the dough, leaving about ½ inch of crust bare. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  3. Sprinkle the thinly sliced red onion evenly over the cheese. Distribute the chopped pepperoncini across the surface, followed by the minced garlic.
  4. Place your pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese bubbles.
  5. Remove from the oven and consider sprinkling ½ cup of grated Parmesan and a tablespoon of fresh oregano on top. Let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
