Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place an oven-safe rack on top.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, black pepper, water, and cayenne pepper to create a sticky glaze.
  3. Arrange thick-cut bacon strips on the prepared rack. Generously coat each slice with the sugar mixture.
  4. Bake the bacon for about 15 minutes, flip each strip, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  5. Increase oven temperature to 425°F (220°C), slice the baguette, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake the crostini for 7-10 minutes until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.
  7. Assemble the log by placing the goat cheese on a platter and pressing the bacon pieces into it. Drizzle with syrup.
  8. Serve alongside the crispy crostini for dipping.
