Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak strips
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 12 oz pasta penne or rigatoni recommended
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Cook the Pasta
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente according to package instructions.
  3. Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the diced green bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  7. Cook the Meat
  8. Add the ground beef or steak strips to the skillet.
  9. Cook until browned or cooked through, breaking apart the meat with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  11. Prepare the Creamy Sauce
  12. Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in the softened cream cheese and beef broth.
  13. Cook, stirring constantly, until the cream cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  14. Combine Pasta and Sauce
  15. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  16. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved pasta water, a splash at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.
  17. Broil the Cheese Topping (Optional)
  18. Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
  19. Place the skillet under the broiler for 3–5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
  20. Serve and Enjoy
  21. Remove from the oven and let the dish cool slightly. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
