Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Cake pan
  • Heatproof bowl
  • skewer
  • serving platter
  • wire rack

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven according to the chocolate cake mix package directions. In a large mixing bowl, blend the chocolate cake mix with the required ingredients until smooth. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 30-35 minutes. Once done, allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. Once your cake has cooled, carefully remove it from the pan and place it on a serving platter. Use a skewer to poke several holes across the top of the cake, allowing for even absorption. Pour the chocolate milk evenly over the cake, letting it soak for 5-10 minutes to infuse moisture into the layers without making it soggy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the Dream Whip (or heavy whipping cream) with an electric mixer until fluffy peaks form, which should take about 3-5 minutes. Gently fold in the softened cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk until everything is well combined and creamy.
  4. Spread the cream filling evenly over the soaked cake, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  5. To create the chocolate ganache, combine the melted chocolate with heavy whipping cream in a heatproof bowl. Stir until smooth and glossy; allow the ganache to cool slightly to thicken.
  6. Pour the warm ganache over the top of the layered cake, letting it drizzle down the sides. Smooth the ganache gently with a spatula to ensure every crevice is coated.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle a generous layer of crispy rice cereal over the top of the ganache, pressing down slightly to ensure it adheres.
