Servings: 24 cookies
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: Danish

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box 15.25 ounces yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • Christmas sprinkles optional

Method

Prepare the Dough:
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
  2. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the yellow cake mix, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.
Chill the Dough:
  1. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. Chilling helps the dough firm up for easier piping.
Preheat the Oven:
  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
Pipe the Cookies:
  1. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe swirls or other shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Add Sprinkles:
  1. For a festive touch, sprinkle Christmas decorations or coarse sugar onto the cookies before baking.
Bake:
  1. Place the cookies in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just lightly golden.
Cool:
  1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
