Method
Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the yellow cake mix, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.
Chill the Dough:
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. Chilling helps the dough firm up for easier piping.
Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
Pipe the Cookies:
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe swirls or other shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Add Sprinkles:
- For a festive touch, sprinkle Christmas decorations or coarse sugar onto the cookies before baking.
Bake:
- Place the cookies in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just lightly golden.
Cool:
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
