Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 10.75 oz can condensed tomato soup
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 hamburger buns toasted if desired

Method

  1. Brown the Ground Beef
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly browned. Break it into fine crumbles with a wooden spoon or masher for a smoother texture.
  3. Cook the Vegetables
  4. Add the chopped celery and onion to the skillet. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  5. Drain excess grease from the skillet to keep the filling light.
  6. Combine Ingredients
  7. Stir in the tomato soup, ketchup, brown sugar, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and garlic powder. Mix well to combine.
  8. Simmer the Mixture
  9. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the flavors meld and the sauce thickens.
  10. Assemble and Serve
  11. Spoon the filling onto toasted hamburger buns and serve immediately. Pair with your favorite sides for a complete meal.
