Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped ham
  • 1 green onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped jalapeños optional
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 loaf French bread

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped ham, green onion, jalapeños (if using), Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce until well combined.
  3. Prepare the Bread Bowl: Slice off the top of the French bread loaf and hollow out the center to create a bowl. Reserve the removed bread pieces for dipping.
  4. Fill the Bread Bowl: Spoon the cheese mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl and pack it in tightly.
  5. Wrap and Bake: Place the top of the bread back on and wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil. Bake for 60 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the cheese to melt.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven, unwrap, and serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • For a meat-free version, omit the ham.
  • To make it spicier, add extra jalapeños or a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in a 350°F oven or microwaved in short intervals.
  • Use sourdough or focaccia as a substitute for French bread if desired.
