Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with silicone mat or parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut cold, cubed butter into the dry flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Fold in chopped apples.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden and set; check for smaller fritters around 8 minutes.
  8. Prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Brush the glaze over the fritters and broil for 2-4 minutes until the glaze bubbles and turns golden.
