Ingredients

For the Chicken Wings:
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 3 tablespoons potato starch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • Oil spray as needed
For the Honey Lemon Pepper Sauce:
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 lemon zested
  • ¼ cup lemon juice or more
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground pepper
  • A pinch of salt

Method

Prepare the Chicken Wings:
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel to ensure they become crispy.
  3. In a large bowl, combine potato starch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Toss the chicken wings in the mixture until they are evenly coated.
Bake the Chicken Wings:
  1. Lightly spray oil onto a parchment-lined sheet pan.
  2. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the sheet pan and spray the tops with more oil.
  3. Lower the oven temperature to 425°F and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, flipping halfway through and spraying more oil to ensure crispiness.
Make the Honey Lemon Pepper Sauce:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, butter, salt, and ground pepper.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until well combined and slightly thickened.
  3. Set aside a small portion of the sauce for dipping if desired.
Toss the Wings in the Sauce:
  1. Once the wings are baked, transfer them to a large bowl.
  2. Pour the honey lemon pepper sauce over the wings and toss until fully coated.

Notes

  • Crispy Texture: Pat the wings dry before coating to ensure they crisp up nicely.
  • Flip and Spray: Flip the wings halfway through baking and spray with oil to ensure even crispiness.
  • Adjust Sauce Thickness: Simmer the sauce longer for a thicker consistency or add more lemon juice for a thinner one.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the ground pepper according to your desired spice level.
