Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 24 oz Frozen Hash Browns Thawed and drained
  • 4 Tbsp Butter Melted; substitute with margarine for dairy-free
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Bacon Cooked and crumbled; turkey bacon can be used
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Can substitute with Gruyère or mozzarella
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk/Half-and-Half Non-dairy alternatives can be used
  • 1/4 cup Green Onions Chopped; optional but recommended
  • Additional to taste Salt
  • Additional to taste Black Pepper

Equipment

  • Springform Pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Oven

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine thawed and drained frozen hash browns with melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly coated. Press the mixture firmly into the base and up the sides of a greased springform pan to form a snug crust. Freeze for about 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the crust is chilled, bake for approximately 40 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. While the crust bakes, whisk together the eggs and milk in a separate bowl until light and frothy. Stir in crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar, chopped green onions, and season with extra salt and black pepper.
  4. After the crust is pre-baked, pour the egg mixture over it and spread evenly. Reduce the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes until set in the center.
  5. Remove from the oven and let the quiche rest for about 10 minutes before slicing to allow filling to firm up.
