Ingredients

For the French Toast:
  • 1 loaf French bread cut into 12 thick slices
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Filling:
  • 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
Optional Toppings:
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Maple syrup for drizzling
  • Whipped cream optional garnish
  • Additional sliced strawberries for serving

Method

Prepare the Bread:
  1. Cut the French bread into 12 thick slices (about 2 inches each).
  2. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a pocket halfway into each slice, being cautious not to slice all the way through.
Make the Cheesecake Filling:
  1. In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Prepare the Egg Mixture:
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.
Stuff the Bread Slices:
  1. Spread about ½ tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the pocket of each bread slice.
  2. Add 2-3 slices of fresh strawberries into the pocket, pressing lightly to secure the filling.
Coat in Egg Mixture:
  1. Dip each stuffed slice into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
Cook the French Toast:
  1. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Place the stuffed slices on the hot pan and cook for 2-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove from the pan and keep warm while cooking the remaining slices.
Serve:
  1. Arrange the French toast on a serving plate.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with whipped cream if desired.
  3. Garnish with extra strawberries for a fresh and vibrant touch.
