For the Cinnamon Roll Topping
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter melted
  • ½ cup Light-Brown Sugar or Granulated Sugar sweeten to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg whisked
Optional Topping
  • 2 tablespoons Turbinado Sugar

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie plate
  • Mixing Bowl
  • sharp knife
  • Plastic Wrap
  • wire rack

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the pie crust by rolling out the dough and fitting it into a 9-inch pie plate. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt to create the topping. Unroll cinnamon roll dough and spread the butter mixture on it. Roll tightly and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Pour the apple pie filling into your prepared pie crust, ensuring it’s evenly spread and slightly higher in the center.
  4. Slice the chilled cinnamon roll dough into 1-inch rounds and layer them over the apple filling.
  5. Chill the pie again for 15 minutes. Brush with the whisked egg and sprinkle with turbinado sugar if desired.
  6. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 45-65 minutes.
  7. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before serving.
