- In a small bowl, mix all the spices to create your blackening seasoning.
- Pat the salmon dry with a paper towel. Rub the seasoning blend evenly over one side of the filet (use the flesh side if skin-on).
- Heat the oil in a non-stick or cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the salmon in the pan, seasoned side down. Sear for 1 to 2 minutes without moving it.
- Flip the salmon and cook the other side for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Remove from the pan and serve immediately with your choice of sides.
Notes
This recipe works best with fresh salmon, but thawed frozen salmon also cooks well.
