Step-by-Step Instructions for Boursin Mac and Cheese
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 8 oz of short pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically 6–8 minutes. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  2. In the same pot, melt 2 tbsp of unsalted butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add 1 cup of heavy cream while whisking. Stir in the Boursin cheese and 1 cup of grated white cheddar cheese until melted.
  4. Fold the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water or milk if needed.
  5. In a separate skillet, melt the remaining 2 tbsp of butter. Add 1 cup of plain breadcrumbs and sauté until golden brown.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Pour the mac and cheese into a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. Bake for about 15 minutes or serve immediately.
