Step-by-Step Instructions for Boursin Mac and Cheese
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 8 oz of short pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically 6–8 minutes. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
- In the same pot, melt 2 tbsp of unsalted butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually add 1 cup of heavy cream while whisking. Stir in the Boursin cheese and 1 cup of grated white cheddar cheese until melted.
- Fold the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water or milk if needed.
- In a separate skillet, melt the remaining 2 tbsp of butter. Add 1 cup of plain breadcrumbs and sauté until golden brown.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Pour the mac and cheese into a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. Bake for about 15 minutes or serve immediately.

Notes
Use freshly grated cheese for best texture and avoid graininess by letting the cream cool before adding cheese.
