Ingredients

For the Filling:
  • 2 Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and finely chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Wontons:
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
For Garnishing:
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • Caramel sauce as desired

Method

Prepare the Apple Filling:
  1. Combine chopped apples, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Mix well and let sit for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
Assemble the Wontons:
  1. Place wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
  2. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the apple filling into the center of each wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water and fold diagonally to form a triangle. Press firmly to seal the edges.
Fry the Wontons:
  1. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the wontons in small batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Garnish and Serve:
  1. Dust the wontons with powdered sugar.
  2. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top for added sweetness.
  3. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
