Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Twists are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack, featuring a savory filling of spinach and feta cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 cup fresh spinach (chopped)
- 4 ounces feta cheese (crumbled)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases. Cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
- Place a spoonful of the spinach and feta mixture at one end of each pastry strip. Fold the pastry over the filling and twist it to create a spiral shape. Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops of the twists with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
- You can also substitute the spinach with kale or add chopped sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
