Ingredients
- 1 large head of green cabbage (about 2 pounds)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and slice the head into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 4 to 6 steaks depending on the size of the cabbage.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the olive oil mixture and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Roast the cabbage steaks in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and tender.
- If using, drizzle balsamic vinegar over the steaks during the last 5 minutes of roasting.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top during the last few minutes of roasting.
- You can serve the cabbage steaks with a dollop of your favorite sauce, like tahini or yogurt, for added creaminess.
