Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup red and blue sprinkles (or colored sugar)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the red and blue sprinkles.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cookie bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper (if used) and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Once the cookie bars are completely cool, drizzle the frosting over the top.
- Cut into squares and serve.
