Description
A delicious Mediterranean meatball appetizer served with a refreshing tzatziki sauce, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and excess moisture squeezed out
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Drizzle the meatballs with olive oil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving with the tzatziki sauce.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
