Description

A delicious and flavorful recipe for Maui-Style Asian BBQ Beef, perfect for grilling enthusiasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Place the sliced flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the beef. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
  4. Grill the beef slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Avoid overcrowding the grill; cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Once cooked, remove the beef from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice into bite-sized pieces if desired.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar to the marinade.
  • Serve with steamed rice or grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
