Description

A creamy, cheesy, and perfectly spiced dip bursting with the sweet flavor of fresh crab and Old Bay seasoning. This Maryland Crab Dip is the ultimate appetizer for any gathering or indulgent snack time.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz whipped cream cheese
  • ½ cup tartar sauce (or mayonnaise)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 lb jumbo lump or lump crab meat
  • ¼ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Sliced and toasted baguette (for serving)
  • Olive oil cooking spray (for toasting baguette)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine whipped cream cheese, tartar sauce (or mayonnaise), Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce (if using), Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add Crab Meat
Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful to keep the chunks intact for texture.
  4. Incorporate Cheese
Stir in shredded Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheeses for richness and a gooey finish.
  5. Transfer to Dish
Spoon the mixture into an oven-safe dish or skillet, spreading it evenly.
  6. Garnish and Bake
Lightly spray the top with olive oil cooking spray and sprinkle with additional Old Bay seasoning. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly, with a lightly golden top.
  7. Serve Immediately
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Fresh Crab Meat: For the best flavor, use fresh jumbo lump or lump crab meat.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the hot sauce to your preference or omit it entirely for a milder dip.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the dip in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Gluten-Free: Serve with gluten-free bread or crackers for a gluten-free option.
