Description

Delicious marbled brownie chocolate chip cookies that combine the rich flavors of brownies and chocolate chip cookies in one irresistible treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup brownie mix (dry)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.
  6. In a small bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, but do not bake it.
  7. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Then, scoop about 1 teaspoon of the brownie batter on top of the cookie dough. Use a toothpick or the back of a spoon to swirl the brownie batter into the cookie dough, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will continue to cook as they cool.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • Add a pinch of espresso powder to the cookie dough for a subtle coffee flavor that enhances the chocolate.
