Description

A quick and easy recipe for a savory herb and cheese bread that can be baked in no time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and thyme until well combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese, ensuring the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  6. If using, fold in the fresh parsley for added flavor.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the dry ingredients.
  • Substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese, such as feta or mozzarella, for a different flavor profile.
