Description
A quick and easy recipe for a savory herb and cheese bread that can be baked in no time.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and thyme until well combined.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese, ensuring the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- If using, fold in the fresh parsley for added flavor.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the dry ingredients.
- Substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese, such as feta or mozzarella, for a different flavor profile.
