Description
Grilled Chicken Yakitori Skewers are a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring marinated chicken thighs grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin (or sweet rice wine)
- 2 tablespoons sake (or dry white wine)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)
- Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked wooden skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill the skewers for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter glaze, brush additional marinade onto the chicken during the last few minutes of grilling.
- Try adding vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini to the skewers for a colorful and nutritious twist.
