Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists are a delightful treat that combines the classic flavors of cookie dough with a creamy filling, twisted into a fun shape.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese filling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Take a small portion of the cookie dough and flatten it into a rectangle. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center and fold the dough over to encase the filling. Twist the dough gently to create a spiral shape.
- Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a pinch of sea salt on top of the twists before baking.
- You can also substitute the chocolate chips with white chocolate or butterscotch chips for a different twist.
