Description

This Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole is the ultimate comfort food — golden tater tots layered over savory seasoned beef, creamy soup, and melted cheddar cheese. It’s a cozy, crowd-pleasing bake that’s perfect for busy weeknights or weekend family dinners.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1 (10 oz) can cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom)
1/2 lb frozen tater tots
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is soft. Drain any excess grease.

  • Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch casserole dish.

  • Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt over the beef layer.

  • Top with all the shredded cheddar cheese in an even layer.

  • Spread the cream of chicken soup over the cheese layer.

  • Arrange the frozen tater tots on top of the soup layer.

  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt over the tater tots.

  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the foil and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.

  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Swap the cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom for a deeper, earthier flavor.

  • You can double the recipe and use a 9×13 dish if feeding a larger group.

  • Add cooked veggies like peas or green beans for a complete one-dish meal.

  • Leftovers reheat well and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
