Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1 (10 oz) can cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom)
1/2 lb frozen tater tots
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt (for topping)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is soft. Drain any excess grease.
-
Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch casserole dish.
-
Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt over the beef layer.
-
Top with all the shredded cheddar cheese in an even layer.
-
Spread the cream of chicken soup over the cheese layer.
-
Arrange the frozen tater tots on top of the soup layer.
-
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt over the tater tots.
-
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
-
Remove the foil and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
-
Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
-
Swap the cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom for a deeper, earthier flavor.
-
You can double the recipe and use a 9×13 dish if feeding a larger group.
-
Add cooked veggies like peas or green beans for a complete one-dish meal.
-
Leftovers reheat well and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
