Description

Savor all the hearty, nostalgic flavors of a cheeseburger in this comforting one-pot Cheeseburger Casserole! Packed with seasoned ground beef, melty cheddar, creamy sour cream, and tender macaroni, this quick and cozy dinner is perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.

Ingredients

3 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, at room temperature
1 lb. ground beef (85% lean)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 cups beef broth
1 (16 oz.) box elbow macaroni (uncooked)
¾ cup sour cream, at room temperature
½ cup whole milk, at room temperature
Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Shred the cheddar cheese and allow it to come to room temperature.

  • Season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Cook and crumble it with the diced onions in a large pot over medium heat. Drain any excess grease.

  • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste until fully combined.

  • Pour in the beef broth and add the uncooked elbow macaroni. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.

  • Cover the pot and cook for 5 minutes. Stir, re-cover, and cook for another 5 minutes until the pasta is just al dente.

  • Lower the heat. Stir in the sour cream and half the milk. Add additional milk if needed for creaminess.

  • Gradually sprinkle in 2 ½ cups of the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.

  • Top the casserole with the remaining cheese. Cover and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Using room temperature sour cream, milk, and cheese helps create the smoothest and creamiest sauce.

  • Adjust the amount of milk depending on how creamy you prefer the final dish.

  • Feel free to add extras like diced pickles or cooked bacon for a cheeseburger twist!
