Description

This Ground Beef Taco Cabbage Skillet is a low-carb, one-pan dinner that’s bold, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Juicy beef, tender cabbage, and taco spices come together for a satisfying meal that’s quick to make and perfect for busy weeknights. It’s comfort food with a healthy twist—taco night just got an easy, keto-friendly upgrade!

Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef
5 cups green cabbage, shredded or chopped
¼ cup low-carb taco seasoning
1 tablespoon dry minced onion (or substitute with fresh chopped onion)
¼ cup water
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend with mozzarella or pepper jack)

Instructions

  • Brown the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.

  • Add Cabbage and Seasoning
Stir in the cabbage, taco seasoning, dry onion, and water. Mix thoroughly to combine.

  • Cook Until Tender
Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 8–10 minutes or until the cabbage is crisp-tender.

  • Add the Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for 5–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve and Enjoy
Serve hot, straight from the skillet. Add your favorite taco toppings if desired.

Notes

  • A bag of pre-shredded coleslaw mix works great for a shortcut.

  • Customize with extras like jalapeños, diced peppers, or even black olives.

  • Swap the beef for ground turkey or spicy sausage to switch up the flavor.

  • Toppings like sour cream, diced avocado, salsa, or chopped tomatoes add even more flair.
