Description
Bourbon BBQ Smoked Chicken Wings are a delicious and flavorful dish, perfect for gatherings and barbecues.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F. If you don’t have a smoker, you can use a grill set up for indirect heat.
- In a large bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Toss the chicken wings in the spice mixture until evenly coated.
- Place the seasoned wings on the smoker rack, making sure they are not touching. Smoke the wings for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F and have a nice smoky flavor.
- While the wings are smoking, prepare the bourbon BBQ sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the bourbon, barbecue sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Once the wings are done smoking, remove them from the smoker and toss them in the bourbon BBQ sauce until well coated.
- For extra flavor, you can return the sauced wings to the smoker for an additional 15-20 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
- Serve the wings hot, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the spice mix or use a spicy barbecue sauce.
- If you prefer a crispy skin, finish the wings on a hot grill for a few minutes after saucing them.
