Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make Black Pepper Chicken with Mushrooms recipe that combines tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and a savory sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with soy sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the garlic, ginger, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Return the chicken to the skillet and pour in the chicken broth and sesame oil. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce during cooking.
  • Substitute the chicken with tofu or shrimp for a different protein option.
