Instructions
Step 1: Searing the Steaks
- Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a cast iron or heavy-bottom skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear steaks for 2–3 minutes per side until a golden crust forms. Remove and set aside.
Step 2: Sautéing the Vegetables
- Add the remaining olive oil to the skillet.
- Sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in mushrooms and cook until golden brown and tender (about 4-5 minutes).
Step 3: Crafting the Marsala Sauce
- Pour in Marsala wine and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Stir in Italian seasoning and half of the flour until well incorporated.
Step 4: Bringing It All Together
- Return the steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 3-4 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature of the steaks for desired doneness.
- If the sauce needs thickening, add the remaining flour gradually.
- Stir in butter in small pieces until it melts and coats the beef and mushrooms evenly.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
