Description

Indulge in the rich and sophisticated flavors of Beef Marsala, a dish that perfectly balances tender beef, earthy mushrooms, and a luscious Marsala wine sauce. This restaurant-quality meal is easy to make at home and is perfect for a special dinner or a refined weeknight treat.

Ingredients

  • Beef Tenderloin Steaks (4-5, about 6 ounces each)
  • Olive Oil (2 tbsp)
  • Onion (1 cup, finely chopped)
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
  • Baby Bella Mushrooms (8 ounces, sliced)
  • Beef Broth (¾ cup)
  • Marsala Wine (½ cup)
  • Butter (2 tbsp)
  • Italian Seasoning (2 tsp)
  • All-Purpose Flour (3 tsp)
  • Salt and Black Pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh Parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Searing the Steaks

  1. Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a cast iron or heavy-bottom skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear steaks for 2–3 minutes per side until a golden crust forms. Remove and set aside.

Step 2: Sautéing the Vegetables

  1. Add the remaining olive oil to the skillet.
  2. Sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Stir in mushrooms and cook until golden brown and tender (about 4-5 minutes).

Step 3: Crafting the Marsala Sauce

  1. Pour in Marsala wine and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  2. Simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Stir in Italian seasoning and half of the flour until well incorporated.

Step 4: Bringing It All Together

  1. Return the steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 3-4 minutes.
  2. Check the internal temperature of the steaks for desired doneness.
  3. If the sauce needs thickening, add the remaining flour gradually.
  4. Stir in butter in small pieces until it melts and coats the beef and mushrooms evenly.
  5. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use high-quality Marsala wine for the best flavor.
  • For a creamier sauce, add a splash of heavy cream at the end.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
