Description

Delight your taste buds with Bacon Mississippi Sin Dip, a warm and gooey appetizer that combines creamy cheese, savory bacon, and a touch of spice, all served in a golden bread bowl. Perfect for parties, game days, or cozy nights in, this dip is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

For the Dip

  • 16 oz (1 package) sour cream
  • 8 oz (1 package) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 46 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Bread Bowl

  • 1 large loaf of French bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)

For Garnish and Serving

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
  • Crackers, sliced veggies, or extra bread pieces

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Bread Bowl

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Using a serrated knife, cut a large circle into the top of the French bread loaf. Remove the top and hollow out the inside, leaving enough bread to form a sturdy shell. Save the removed bread pieces for dipping.

Step 2: Make the Dip Mixture

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and softened cream cheese. Stir until smooth.
  2. Add the grated cheddar cheese, diced ham, crumbled bacon, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly to combine.

Step 3: Assemble the Bread Bowl

  1. Spoon the prepared dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl.
  2. Brush the edges of the bread bowl with melted butter for extra golden color (optional).
  3. Wrap the entire bread bowl in aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.

Step 4: Bake the Dip

  1. Place the wrapped bread bowl on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 35 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top of the dip is golden and bubbly.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove the bread bowl from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions for a fresh finish.
  2. Serve warm with crackers, sliced vegetables, or reserved bread pieces for dipping.

Notes

  • Prevent Soggy Bread: Brush the inside of the bread bowl with melted butter before filling to create a barrier.
  • Customize the Heat: Add diced jalapeños or more hot sauce for extra spice.
  • Use Quality Cheese: Freshly grated cheddar melts better and enhances flavor.
  • Skip the Bread Bowl: Bake the dip in a casserole dish for an easier serving option.
