Apple Pie Wontons are a crispy, handheld twist on the classic dessert. Filled with sweet, spiced apples and fried to golden perfection, they’re topped with powdered sugar and caramel sauce for a truly irresistible treat. Whether you’re looking for a quick dessert or a crowd-pleasing snack, these wontons are easy to make and impossible to resist.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Wontons:

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For Garnishing:

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • Caramel sauce, as desired

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • Combine chopped apples, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Mix well and let sit for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
  • Assemble the Wontons:
    • Place wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
    • Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the apple filling into the center of each wrapper.
    • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water and fold diagonally to form a triangle. Press firmly to seal the edges.
  • Fry the Wontons:
    • Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry the wontons in small batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side).
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    • Dust the wontons with powdered sugar.
    • Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top for added sweetness.
    • Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
